SAICE-PDP

SAICE Professional Development and Projects, known as SAICE-PDP, is a Non-Profit Company (NPC) focussed on building engineering capacity in support of service delivery in South Africa and further afield.

Candidate Academy

The Candidate Academy’s philosophy is to support candidates on their road to professional registration, by offering practical, hands-on training courses relevant to experiences in the workplace.

Professional Development

The Professional Development division focuses on students; candidates in the workplace through structured programmes and coaching; and providing technical expertise and support where required.

Research & Advisory

Through many research projects, SAICE-PDP has developed a wealth of knowledge in terms of engineering and built environment education and training, and serviced delivery and serves, in many advisory roles addressing these subjects.

Courses

SAICE-PDP is paying particular attention to the current state of lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. New material has been included in our courses to deal with contractual and project delivery issues during this “new normal”. Online courses have been developed and delegates are able to register for such courses on the SAICE and CESA websites. In-house and dedicated online courses are also available to suit individual company needs. Now you can attend facilitator-led courses from any location – we have even had delegates from as far afield as Jamaica, Vietnam, Dubai, UK and the Netherlands!

The course is well presented and the facilitator was very knowledgeable. I have picked up some valuable tips.

Jarryd Van Dyk
Course:Pressure Pipeline and Pump Station Design and Specification

The course facilitator helped breakdown and explain in detail the requirements for registration. Before this course I suspected that I may not have had adequate engineering experience for registration, He also showed me the areas I need to expand in, and how to clearly communicate and show evidence of my experience, so that i meet the requirements and that my initial application is not rejected.

Sivashni Pillay
Course:Road to Registration for Mature Candidates

It was very informative as an RE. I stayed glued on my seat throughout the course. I will definitely use what I’ve learnt on this course on my sites. We should be having more courses like this.

Thamsanqa Trevor Makhanya - Escongweni BPH Engineers (Pty) Ltd
Course:Getting Acquainted with being a Resident Engineer

The course was extremely insightful and mind rejuvenating in terms in terms of the fundamentals and it gave me a useful insight on pump stations and treatment plants that I had not really had much knowledge of and the and the course made me more determined to apply the knowledge I learned throughout the course for my design experience.

Masixole Sicwebu
Course:Getting Acquainted with Sewer Design

The course is great and very informative. The best part of it is the room to deal with individual questions which eventually becomes more like a “custom fit” course.

Sizalobuhle Pius Tshuma
Course:Getting Acquainted with GCC 2015

The course was very well structured. Dup is extremely knowledgeable on the topic and he is able to explain it in the simplest form. I also managed to pick up a number of small tips to consider when designing pipelines/pumpstations. Overall a really good course and suitable for candidates on all levels of experience.

Naomi Naidoo
Course:Pressure Pipeline and Pump Station Design and Specification

Great workshop to get you going on your mentoring journey!

Talha Kadwa
Course:Road to Registration for Mentors, Supervisors and HR Practitioners

Excellent course for Mentors – perhaps it should be compulsory for Mentors in the future. Certainly helped to improve my understanding of my role as a mentor and provides tools I can use in the future to better serve my mentees.

Ugesh Ramnath
Course:Road to Registration for Mentors, Supervisors and HR Practitioners

Good coverage of the ECSA requirements, and forms for candidates to prepare for registration.

Stelios Achilleoudes
Course:Road to Registration for Mentors, Supervisors and HR Practitioners

The course was very informative and it will be come in handy on our current and future projects. As well as just being competent in our careers.

Nomonde Mazibuko
Course:Getting Acquainted with Road Construction and Maintenance

The course was excellent. As a chemical engineer I learnt a lot with regards to the civil side of pump and pipeline design.

Bavana Maharaj
Course:Pressure Pipeline and Pump Station Design and Specification

The content was valuable not just for experienced engineers but for young ones as well. The concepts of soil reinforcement, ground stabilization were clearly explained and distinguished.

Kevin Mthethwa
Course:Getting Acquainted with Geosynthetics in Soil Reinforcement

I have really enjoyed the course. The presenter has presented everything perfectly and explained the processes clearly. I look forward to attending the next candidate academy course.

Subash Ramsunder
Course:Road to Registration for Candidate Engineers, Technologists and Technicians

Very useful course… I think mentors in municipalities or even private companies should be encouraged to attend this course

Musa S Furumele
Course:Road to Registration for Mentors, Supervisors and HR Practitioners

I found the regular activities very good because they insured participation and focus.

Bokang Sithole
Course:Getting Acquainted with Road Construction and Maintenance

The separate group discussions were organized really well – I enjoyed breaking off into the rooms and then coming back to the larger group for discussions.

Nombulelo Ngcobo
Course:Getting Acquainted with GCC 2015

Theuns is a very good facilitator and was able to make the course feel as though we were all in a classroom together. I also enjoyed the breakaways rooms and how he responds and gives each delegate attention.

Yonela Madyibi
Course:Getting Acquainted with GCC 2015

Mr Pipe was absolutely fantastic! He is extremely knowledgeable and communicated clearly. Registering as a Pr CPM seemed like a mountain to climb, but this course addressed all issues I had. Thank you!

Tobie Bartleman
Course:The direct route to registration as a Pr CM or Pr CPM

This is honestly the best online course I’ve attended so far. It was really well presented, the engagement was fantastic and the cohort was also exceptional. Well done to everyone and a big thanks to Theuns.

Frances A'Bear
Course:Getting Acquainted with GCC 2015

The course was very insightful and as a candidate engineer will prepare me as I embark on my field training experiences and also for report writing, making sure I capture all the relevant sewer design principles from an early stage.

Mamokete Mofokeng
Course:Getting Acquainted with Sewer Design

(The course) was very helpful to understand the requirements. I think it will not only improve quality of my application but will also save me time in doing it.

Wagner Human
Course:Road to Registration for Mature Candidates

Really enjoyed how interactive it was, that was helpful in keeping our attention, it didn’t seem like it was virtual.
